Giovanni Bertoni is a master student at the Yale School of Music. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Oberlin Conservatory, where he studied with Richard Hawkins. Bertoni is a winner of the 2017 Backun International Clarinet Competition, held in Nashville, TN (USA). That same year, he substituted in the New World Symphony Orchestra in Miami under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas. During 2015/16, Bertoni was selected by the Oberlin Conservatory to perform at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and has toured with the Oberlin Orchestra and Contemporary Music Ensemble. Bertoni has participated in the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, Musica Riva Festival, soundSCAPE Festival, Round Top Festival Hill Institute (TX), Cleveland’s Stars in the Classics concert series and the Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings. Other major teachers include Ricardo Morales, David Shifrin and Corrado Giuffredi.
